Here, we have given the height of cone and the radius of its base and have to find it's slant height.

 \large{\boxed{\boxed{\textsf {How To Do It?}}}}

Here, we will simply apply the formula for finding slant height (Pythogoras Theorem) and substituting the given values in it we will got our required answer.

Let's Do It

Given:-

  • Height of cone = 16cm
  • Radius = 12cm

Find:-

  • Slant height of cone.

Diagram:-

\setlength{\unitlength}{1.2mm}\begin{picture}(5,5)\thicklines\put(0,0){\qbezier(1,0)(12,3)(24,0)\qbezier(1,0)(-2,-1)(1,-2)\qbezier(24,0)(27,-1)(24,-2)\qbezier(1,-2)(12,-5)(24,-2)}\put(-0.5,-1){\line(1,2){13}}\put(25.5,-1){\line(-1,2){13}}\multiput(12.5,-1)(2,0){7}{\line(1,0){1}}\multiput(12.5,-1)(0,4){7}{\line(0,1){2}}\put(12, -2.3){\tiny{\bf{r = 12cm}}}\put(6,9.7){\tiny{\bf{h = 16cm}}}\end{picture}

\pink{\sf Note:} \underline{\red{\textsf{See this diagram from website.}}}

Solution:-

Let, the slant height be 'l' cm

Now, using

 \begin{lgathered} \huge{\underline{\boxed{ \sf l^2 = h^2 + r^2}}}  \\ \end{lgathered}

 \begin{lgathered} \sf where  \small{\begin{cases} \sf h = 16cm \\ \sf r  = 12cm\end{cases}}  \\ \end{lgathered}

\blue\bigstar Substituting these values:

 \begin{lgathered} \dashrightarrow\sf l^2 = h^2 + r^2  \\ \\  \end{lgathered}

 \begin{lgathered} \dashrightarrow\sf l^2 = 16^2 + 12^2  \\ \\  \end{lgathered}

 \begin{lgathered} \dashrightarrow\sf l^2 =256 +144 \\ \\  \end{lgathered}

 \begin{lgathered} \dashrightarrow\sf l^2 =400 \\ \\  \end{lgathered}

 \begin{lgathered} \dashrightarrow\sf l= \sqrt{400} \\ \\  \end{lgathered}

 \begin{lgathered} \dashrightarrow\sf l=20cm\\ \\  \end{lgathered}

 \begin{lgathered} \large{\underline{\boxed{\therefore\sf Slant \: Height \:  of  \: the  \: cone \:is\:20cm}}}  \\ \end{lgathered}
