It is stated that,

SOUR is a ||gm

SM= 5 cm

UO = 6.5 cm

SO = 9 cm

∠UOS' = 55°

RM = OM

Construction:  Join MU

Solution:

∠SOU' + ∠SOU = 180° (Linear pair)

⇒ 55° + ∠SOU = 180°

⇒ ∠SOU = 180°-55°

⇒ ∠SOU = 125°

∠SOU = ∠SRU = 125° (Corresponding ∠s of a ||gm.)

∴ ∠R = 125°

∠R + ∠U = 180° (Co- interior ∠s)

⇒ 125° + ∠U = 180°

⇒ ∠U = 180° -125°

⇒ ∠U = 55°

∴ ∠U = 55°

∵ Diagonals of a quadrilateral always bisect each other in right angles.

∴ SM = MU = 5 cm

∴ SU = (SM+MU)

      = (5+5)

      = 10 cm

∴ The length of diagonal SU is 10 cm.

[ Seems there is printing mistake in the book,

∠R = 125° it is right but,

∠U = 35° it is incorrect.

Seems ∠R and ∠ U are co-interior angles to each other and we know that the sum of co-interior angle is always 180°

But as per the book,

35+125 = 160

But as per the angle sum property,

∠U + ∠R = 180°

⇒ ∠U = 180°-125°

⇒ ∠U = 55°

So, the correct answer is ∠U = 55° and ∠R =125°.]
