If one half of convex lens is covered with a black paper ,there will be complete image of an object.

But the intensity will be less.

This is verified by performing a daily life experiment.

You can confirm it by using a lighted candle and convex lens

EXPERIMENT:

  • Firstly take a lighted candle and a clean convex lens and place it on smooth surface
  • Now,move the candle along the axis of mirror to form proper image.Full image is obtained and mark this point immediately
  • Now,cover one half of convex lens probably its lower part with a black paper but one thing should be kept in mind that position of candle doesn't change,
  • Again observe the image in convex lens half covered.You will observe that you obtain full image of candle again but there is only one difference that intensity of obtained light is reduced.
