Answer:

Atmanirbhar Bharat, which translates to 'self-reliant India' or 'self-sufficient India', is a term used by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in relation to economic development in country. The term has been used in relation to making India "a bigger and more important part of the global economy", pursuing policies that are efficient, competitive and resilient, and being self-sustaining and self-generating. Atmanirbhar Bharat does not mean "self-containment", "isolating away from the world" or being "protectionist".[1][2][3] The first mention of this came in the form of the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan[4]' or 'Self-Reliant India Mission[5]' during the announcement of India's COVID–19 pandemic related economic package on 12 May 2020.[6] Subsequently, two more Atmanirbhar Bharat packages were announced on 12 October and 12 November 2020, bringing the total economic stimulus to ₹29.87 lakh crore (US$420 billion).[7] The phrase has been used by the government in relation to the 2021 Union Budget of India.[8]
