basically logarithm (log ) is the inverse function to the exponential not only in maths it is also used in physics and somewhat in chemistry to make the calculation simple bcz of its simple derivatives u hve a log book to solve the log calculation

for solving log u must be knowing the derivatives of some terms like constant then exponential and also the trignometric derivatives u should also be knowing the rules for solving the log one of the rule is

a) log (ab) to the base 2 = log(a) to base 2 + log(b) to the base 2

hope this helps u :-))

The invention of logarithm is a remarkable event in the field of Mathematics . In this matter , contribution of John Napier (1550-1617), a renowned mathematician is noteworthy. He developed the system of logarithm to show the relation of the base of a number with its index. In the year 1614, he published a book , named \bold{MIRIFICI \:LOGARITHMORUM \:CANONIS \:DESCRIPTIO} in order to describe the use of logarithm.
