In another class of N Students , the average of the scores for the same test is 92 .

When the scores of the two classes are combined , the average of the test scores is 86 .

AM = (sum of all observation)/number of observation

AM = 70

70 = sigma x/P

=> sigma x1 = 70 P

similarly in tne other class 92 = sigma x/N

=> sigma x2 = 92 N

when combined AM = 86

86 = (sigma x1 + sigma x2/(P + N)

86 ( P + N ) = x1 + x2

86 (P + N ) = 70 P + 92 N

86 P + 86 N = 70 P + 92 N

86 P - 70 P = 92 N - 86 N

16 P = 6 N

P/N = 6/16

P/N = 3/8
