Coal has many important uses worldwide. The most significant uses of coal are in electricity generation,steel production, cement manufacturing and as a liquid fuel. Steam coal - also known as thermal coal - is mainly used in power generation.

1)Coal is used as a fuel in homes and industry.
2)Coal is used asa fuel at thermal power plants for generating electricity.
3)Coal is used to make coal gas which is an important industrial fuel.
4)Coal was also used as a source of organic chemicals....
