reactive than tin which reacts with food and make it unfit for consumption. so that's why food cans are coated with tin not with zinc. Because zinc has higher melting point than tin, zinc is more reactive than tin which may react with food items and make it unfit for health ....and also zinc is costlier than tin...

Heya!❤️

Food cans are not coated with zinc because it being more reactive than tin, can react with organic acids present in the food.

Hope this helps
