Hello mate!!

Question:

Why do hydrocarbons burn with blue non-sooty flame?

Solution:

Hydrocarbons which are used as fuels burn with blue non-sooty flame because the percentage of carbon in these compounds is low which gets oxidised completely by oxygen present in the air.

Hope this helps

Explanation:

This happens because of incomplete combustion of the saturatedhydrocarbon in the air. ... The flame is sooty because the percentage of carbon is comparatively higher than that of alkanes and so does not get completely oxidized in air. However, when acetylene and pure oxygen burn, a non-sooty, blue flame is produced.
