Do you know who was the first female pilot from India? Or the first female freedom fighter? Have you heard about brave women like Chand Bibi and Obavva? In modern India, women have held high offices including that of the President and Prime Minister. Not only did these women make an impact on India, but they are also some of the most influential women in history.

I have included more than 50 women on this list, but I wanted to highlight five whose achievements changed the course of history.

Anandi Gopal Joshi: She was the first female doctor in India and the first Indian woman to obtain a medical degree in the United States.

Indira Gandhi: She was the first and only woman to be the Prime Minister of India.

Justice Anna Chandy: She was the first female judge in India.

Kalpana Chawla: She was the first Indian woman in space and died tragically in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster.

Mother Teresa: She dedicated her life to helping the poor and was the first woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.

hope it helps u if yeah plz mark it brainliest

The status of women in India has been subject to many great changes over the past few millennia. [4] With a decline in their status from the ancient to medieval times, [5][6] to the promotion of equal rights by many reformers, their history has been eventful. In modern India, women have held high offices including that of the President , Prime Minister,
Speaker of the Lok Sabha , Leader of the Opposition , Union Ministers, Chief Ministers and Governors.
Women's rights under the
Constitution of India mainly include equality, dignity, and freedom from discrimination; additionally, India has various statutes governing the rights of women. [7][8]
As of 2018, the President of India , the
Speaker of the Lok Sabha and the
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha (Lower House of the parliament) have been women. However, women in India continue to face numerous problems such as sexual assault gender inequality and dowry.
