\bold{Floating\:or\:sinking\:of\:objects\:in\:water}

Floating or sinking of objects depend upon the amount of buoyant force acting on them. Theoretically, if the amount of buoyant force is more, then the object float and if its amount is less then object will sink.

Mechanism of the phenomenon :

When an object is immersed in a liquid, then two forces are acting on it in liquid :

  • Gravitational force : This force pulls the object towards the earth. So it produces the weight of object.
  • Buoyant force : This force tends to push the object upward, just opposite to gravitational force.

If the Buoyant force is more than the gravitational force, then the object floats on surface of liquid.

Similarly, If the gravitational force is more than the buoyant force, then the object sinks in the liquid.

Explanation:

heya

If we could measure a large amount of water that has the same volume as the log, the log will weigh less than the water. Therefore, the log floats. ... If an object weighs more than an equal volume of water, it is denser and will sink, and if it weighs less than an equal volume of water, it is less dense and will float.

i hope its help uh
