Explanation:

The cleansing action of both soaps and detergents results from their ability to lower the surface tension of water, to emulsify oil or grease and to hold them in a suspension in water. This ability is due to the structure of soaps and detergents. In water, a sodium soap dissolves to form soap anions and sodium cations.

Explanation:

When soap is dissolved in water its hydrophobic enfs attach themselves to the cloth and remove the dirt.

First the molecules of the soap arrange themselves in micelle formation and trap the dust at the centre of the cluster.

These clusters remain suspended in water like particles in a colloidal solution.

Hence the soap helps in removing dust.
