It is a headland on the Atlantic Coast. It was named so as, it divides, the two oceans namely Atlantic and Indian Ocean, and Indian Ocean is much more calm in comparison to Atlantic Ocean, so it is believed that, when some travel crosses that point, it means now, the journey is safer and calmer, this is how it got it's name Cape of Good Hope.

It was discovered by Bartholomew Dias in 1488 and he named it as Cape of Storms, but later King John II renamed it as Cape of Good Hope.

How was Cape of Good Hope Formed?
