x+2y=9

3x-6y= -15

Multiplying equation 1 by 3

3x+6y=27

3x-6y=-15

—————

6x=12

x=2

Substituting x in equation 2

3(2)-6y=-15

6-6y=-15

6y=21

y=21/6 = 7/2

2y = - x + 9

x = 9 - 2y

3x - 6y = - 15

3(9 - 2y) - 6y = - 15

27 - 6y - 6y = - 15

12y = 42

y = 7/2

x = 9 - 2y

x = 9 - 2(7/2)

x = 9 - 7

x = 2

so x = 2 and y = 7/2

verification

2(7/2) = - 2 + 9

9 = 9
