Here,
(x³ + 4x² - 3x - 10) is divided by (x + 1)
Firstly, the divisor (x + 1) is multiplied by x² in order to obtain (x³ + x²) which leaves a reminder of 3x².
Now, -3x is taken down and the equation becomes (3x² - 3x). Again the divisor is multiplied by +3x in order to obtain (3x² + 3x) which leaves a reminder of -6x.
Finally, -10 is taken down and the equation becomes (-6x - 10). Lastly the divisor is multiplied by -6 in order to obtain (-6x - 6) which leaves the remainder of -4
Hence, the quotient = x² + 3x - 6
