Why does the connecting rod of an electric heater not glow while the heating element does..?

heya...Empress here...
So..according to a phenomena, a heater only works with electricity and we all know it.
This is so because when electricity passes the element or substance present inside the element halts the current and does not let it go through it and the result comes, glowing of the element and production of heat.
But the rod does not glow as it is made up of some kind of metal and is also a good conductor of electricity and that means it allows electricity to pass through it.
