as the area of a paralellogram is base  × height

the perpendicular is the height,so, =8×5=40cm square

and then draw a line joining a and c so we will get a triangle abc

the base is the same base of the paralellogram so

according to the area theorems :

the area of a triangle is half the area of the paralellogram with the same base

so area of triangle ABC =1/2 ×40 = 20c m square
