GIVEN:

I = 5A

n =5×10^26

e=1.6×10^-19 C

A =4×10^-6 m²

TO FIND:

V d (drift speed)=?

FORMULA

i \:  = n \: e \: a \: v

  • I = current
  • n= electron density
  • a = area of cross section
  • v = drift speed

SOLUTION:

v \:  =  \frac{i}{n \: e \: a}  \\ v =  \frac{5}{5 \times  {10}^{26} \times 4 \times  {10}^{ - 6}   \times 1.6 \times  {10}^{ - 19} }  \\ v \:  = 0.156 \times  {10}^{ - 1}  \\ v = 1.56 \times  {10}^{ - 2}
