Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

The difference between CI and SI is given by formula.

Difference = Principal (r/100)^2 (r/100+3)

On putting values

283.5 = Principal (15/100) (15/100) (15/100 + 3)

283.5 = Principal (0.15) (0.15) (0.15+3)

283.5 = Principal (0.0225) (3.15)

283.5 = Principal (0.070875)

283.5/0.070875 = Principal

4000 = Principal

Answer:

Given CI−SI=Rs.283.50

R=15%

n=3 years

Let the sum be Rs.x

We know that : A=P(1+100R)n

A=2(1+1005)3=x(1.15)3 _________ (1)

Aslo, SI=100PRn=100x×15×3=1.45x _______ (2)

Thus, we have :

x(1.15)3−1.45x=283.50   (from (1)&(2))

⇒1.523x−1.45x=283.50

⇒0.070875x=283.50

⇒x=0.070875283=4,000

Thus, the sum is Rs4000

The difference between the compound interest and simple interest on a certain sum at 15% per annum for 3 years is Rs. 283.50. Find the sum.

Question

The difference between the compound interest and simple interest on a certain sum at 15% per annum for 3 years isRs. 283.50. Find the sum.

Solution

Let sum (P)=Rs. 100

Rate (R) =15% p.a

Period (n)=3 years

∴ Simple interest =PRT100

=100×15×3100

=Rs. 45

and when interest is compounded annually then

C.I=P[(1+R100)n−1]

=Rs. 100[(1+15100)3−1]

=Rs. 100[(2320)3−1]

=Rs. 100[2320×2320×2320−1]

=Rs. 100×[121678000−1]

=Rs. 100×12167−80008000

=Rs. 416780

Difference in C.I and S.I.

=Rs. (416780−451)

=Rs. 4167−360080

=Rs. 56780

If difference is Rs.56780, then principal = Rs. 100

If difference is Re. 1, then principal =Rs.100×80567

and if difference is Rs. 283.50, then

Principal =Rs.100×80567×283.50

=Rs.100×80×28350567×100=Rs.4000

Sum =Rs. 4000
