1) when blue litmus paper is dipped in a solution and it remains blue it show that the solution is either basic or neutral in nature

3) Lactic acid and hydrochloric acid will give a pale pink colour when tested with methyl orange indicator whereas sodium hydroxide and caustic soda will give a pale yellow colour

4) Phenolphthalein indicator turns pink in a basic solution. As the aqueous solution of K2CO3 produces KOH (strong base), therefore, the solution becomes alkaline in nature and changes the colour of phenolphthalein to pink
