average \: speed =  \frac{total \: distance}{total \: time \: taken}

distance = speed  \times time

 {d}^{1}  = 2.5 \times 100 = 250m \\  {d}^{2}  = 1.5 \times 100 = 150m

total \: distance = 250 + 150 = 400m \\  \\ total \: time  \: taken = 100 + 100 = 200sec

average \: speed \:  = \frac{400}{200}  = 2 m {s}^{ - 1}
