HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!
In the Fall, an even number of children collected in total 234 chestnuts. Half of the children collected 5 chestnuts each and the other half collected 4 chestnuts each.

Later, after they had collected more, they divided the chestnuts equally among themselves and each child got 6 chestnuts. How many chestnuts were collected in total?

Answer:

The total number of chestnuts collected by children is 312

Step-by-step explanation:

given that an even number of children collected 234 chestnuts

half of the children collected 5 chestnuts and half of the children collected 4 chestnuts

let us assume that total number of children  (even number of children) = 2x

(because an even number is always in form of 2x  for example 4 = 2(2) , 10= 2(5) ...)

in 2x half which is x number of children collected 5 chestnuts each , and remaining x number of children collected 4 chestnuts each

∴ total number of chestnuts collected by x number of children (each 5) = 5x

                                                                     x number of children (each 4) = 4x

total number of chestnuts collected by 2x = 5x + 4x  which is equals to 234

                                                                  5x+ 4x = 234

                                                                   9x = 234

                                                                   x = \frac{234}{9} = 26

        Number of children = 2x = 2 (26) = 52

  at end after dividing the chestnuts equally each child got 6 chestnuts

      ∴ the total number of chestnuts collected by children = 56× 6 =312
