2)

A story on a situation in my life in which I got in trouble in school.

My fifth-grade teacher was Mrs. Neese in Abingdon, Va. Her husband worked for NASCAR as a pit row inspector during the races. I was a huge NASCAR fan, so I thought her husband hung the moon. We would often discuss racing in her class while others were working on homework. I had been to several races at this point but only a few.

For some reason, I liked to pretend that my family often followed NASCAR around to various cities. But we didn’t have a “family” to do anything. My mom was single and raising three kids. We were just scraping by financially. Still, I liked to tell Mrs. Neese every Monday all about our adventures at the races over the weekend. She would just nod her head and smile. It wasn’t until a driver was killed at Michigan Speedway during practice that her demeanor changed. I told her that I was there when it happened and that it was “the worst thing I’ve ever seen.” She started turning red and asked to speak with me in the hallway. I’ve never seen somebody so angry. She told me that she knew I’d been lying and that it was unacceptable to fabricate stories like that. I never lied to her again.

I'm giving answer to your 2nd question in that excercise.

I was always (still am, in fact) a fan of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” I probably don’t have to explain this to you, but basically, this was a show about a group of turtles that anthropomorphized into ninjas. They studied under the tutelage of the grandmaster sensai Splinter, an elderly rat who somehow learned the art of being a master warrior. The plot is kind of suspect, but I loved the show and wanted nothing more than to be one of these weapon-wielding turtles. My favorite was Donatello. He wore purple and carried a long stick that he used to fight criminals. I, too, began carrying a large stick (a broom, actually) whenever we played “Ninja Turtles.” One afternoon, we attacked a neighbor kid named Alex. He was 6 or so at the time, and I had no business doing what I did, but suffice it to say I smacked him pretty hard with the stick. A few hours later, Alex’s mother and the police were at our house. They threatened to press charges of assault if I didn’t apologize. I said I was sorry, and we never played “Ninja Turtles” again, per our parents’ request.

Good times.❤️
