  • Sublimation :

It works on the principle that solids have a weak intermolecular force hence a higher vapour pressure which converts it into directly vapour state.

  • Crystallisation:

The principle of crystallization is based on the limited solubility of a compound in a solvent at a certain temperature, pressure, etc. A change of these conditions to a state where the solu- bility is lower will lead to the formation of a crystalline solid.

  • Distillation:

it is used To separate a mixture of liquids, the liquid can be heated to force components, which have different boiling points, into the gas phase.

  • simple distillation

it may be used when the boiling points of two liquids are significantly different from each other or to separate liquids from solids or nonvolatile components.

  • distillation under reduced pressure:

if the pressure on the surface of liquid is reduced then it can be made to boil at lower temperature. thus the liquid which decompose their melting point can be purified at comparatively low temperature by carrying out their distillation under reduced pressure.

  • fractional distillation

different liquids boil at different temperature. The miscible liquids boil at different temperature and evaporate at different temperature. When the mixture is heated, the liquid with lower boiling point boils and turns into vapours.

  • Differential extraction

it is based on the fact that organic substances are more soluble in organic solvents than in water.

  • chromatography

based on the principle where molecules in mixture applied onto the surface or into the solid, and fluid stationary phase (stable phase) is separating from each other while moving with the aid of a mobile phase.
