Concave mirror means its surface is lowered, its easy to identify the concave and convex mirror, if the surface of the mirror is bulging then it is convex mirror and one of the easy way to identify by remembering the names. It is more practical for the concave mirror as the word cave means pit, which is lowered and in this way the word concave has come that means if the surface of the mirror is lowered then it is concave mirror or alike to the pit. And convex mirror, that must be opposite of the concave mirror that means the surface is bulges and unlike the concave mirror the size of the formed image by it is small or of same size and in most of the cases virtual. But it is confusing in case of the concave and convex lense. We identify them too as of the mirror of their respective name an causes mistake so, always remeber that concave lense acts like the convex mirror and convex lense acts like the concave mirror, that means the both are opposite in case of lenses and mirror and opposite too in case of the respective mirror and lense too.
