>> The basic thing that protects a human heart from injuries is our rib cage. What is that? The rib cage is a set of bones which makes cages like structure thereby accomplishing the understanding of its name. The pair of these bones is twelve in number.

>> Rib cage provides the most basic protection from injuries to our heart it acts as a shield.

>> pericardial membrane, surrounding pericardial fluid. These also protect the heart from injuries and shocks.

An adult human has 50 ml of clear, straw-coloured pericardial fluid which is composed of high concentration of lactate dehydrogenase, proteins and lymphocytes.

• Lactate Dehydrogenase is a component of living tissue. High level of this enzyme specifies tissue damages.

• Lymphocytes are our army which keeps us fit. It fights with infection, bacteria and unwanted foreign things which try to invade our body and harm us.
