Answer:

100 km/hr, 80 km/hr

Step-by-step explanation:

Let 'Speed of the train be x km/hr' & 'Speed of car be y km/hr'.

(i) Covers 250 km by train and rest by car:

⇒ Time taken by train to travel 250 km = (250/x).

Remaining distance = Total - Time taken by train

                                 = 370 - 250

                                 = 120 km.

⇒ Time taken by car to travel 120 km = (120/y).

⇒ Given that it takes 4 hours.

∴ Total time taken to cover 370 km = (250/x) + (120/y) = 4

                                                           = (125/x) + (60/y) = 2

(ii) Covers 130 km by train rest by car:

⇒ Time taken by train to cover 130 km = (130/x) .

Remaining distance = Total - Time taken by train

                                 = 370 - 130

                                 = 240 km.

⇒ Time taken by car to cover 240 km = (240/y).

∴ It takes 18 minutes longer => 4 hours 18 minutes = 4 (18/60) = 43/10 hours.

Time taken to cover 370 km = (130/x) + (240/y) = 43/10

Now,

On solving (i) * 4 & (ii), we get

⇒ (500/x) + (240/y) = 8

⇒ (130/x) + (240/y) = 43/10

   ------------------------------------

  (500/x) - (130/x) = 8 - 43/10

    (370/x) = 37/10

   x = 100 km/hr.

Substitute x = 100 in (ii), we get

⇒ (130/x) + (240/y) = 43/10

⇒ (130/100) + (240/y) = 43/10

⇒ (240/y) = 43/10 - 130/100

⇒ (240/y) = 30/10

⇒ (240/y) = 3

⇒ y = 80 km/hr.

Therefore:

∴ Speed of the train = 100 km/hr.

∴ Speed of the car = 80 km/hr.

Hope it helps!
