help me to understand that hydrogen is a metal or non metal as in periodic table it is mentioned neither it is a metal nor non metal and also not a metalloid im confused because sometimes it gains one positive charge by leaving one electron and sometime it gain electron to complete its outermost shell ?

hydrogen is a non-metal....

hydrogen is a nonmetal and its atomic number is 1 so sometimes it gains positive charge by leaving electron and it will gain another electron to complete its first shell(k shell).
