We need to add,

At first we need to make the denominators same.

LCM of 9 and 8 is 72. So,

$\bf:\longrightarrow{\dfrac{7}{9}=\dfrac{7\times8}{9\times8}}$

$\bf:\longrightarrow{\dfrac{7\times8}{9\times8}=\dfrac{56}{72}}$

$\bf:\longrightarrow{\dfrac{1}{8}=\dfrac{1\times9}{8\times9}}$

On Adding, equation 1 and 2,
