Here is the solution...
firstly solve the equation
from eq(1)
a - b = 4 also written as a = b+4
put the value of a in eq (2)
a + b =6
b+4 +b = 6
2b = 2
b = 1
now value of a is
a = b+4
a = 1+4
a = 5
a^2 + b^2 = 5^2 + 1^2 = 25 + 1 = 26
ab = 5*1 = 5
Hope it helps....

a+b=6 ....(1)
a- b=4 ....(2)
Adding 1 and 2
a+b+a-b=4+6
2a=10
a=5
Put a=5 in eq 1
b=6-5
b=1
Now (i) a²+b²=> (5)²+(1)²=> 26
(ii) ab= 5×1=>5
Hope this helps
