2. Sarah’s is a bridesmaid in best friend’s wedding in Los Angeles. The wedding is scheduled for 6 PM on Saturday. Sarah’s flight leaves Philadelphia at 1 PM Saturday afternoon and is scheduled to take 6 hours. Assuming it will take her an extra hour to get to the ceremony location from the airport and another hour to get ready, will Sarah be ready for the wedding on time?


3. Ben is heading to Tokyo for his winter break. Ben has a direct flight from Philadelphia leaving at 2PM on Friday and should take 14 hours. His brother, Matt, is joining him and is leaving New York City at 12PM on the same day. His brother’s flight time is expected to be 12 hours but he has a 3 hour layover in Vancouver. Will Ben or Matt land in Tokyo first? What time and day will the later brother arrive?

Her tickets are so last minute, though, that she has to rush to the airport immediately! Kate and Wills will be at the swimming events that night at 7 PM and its 10AM now. Her flight leaves Philadelphia in an hour and will take 7 hours. Will she arrive in London on time if it takes her 30 minutes to get from the plane gate to her seat in the stadium?
6. Nina is starting a new teaching job in Hong Kong at 8AM sharp Monday morning. She wants to make sure she gets a least 8 hours of sleep the night before so she can get off to a good start. Her flight leaves Saturday from Philadelphia at 7 PM and is scheduled to last 17 hours. It will take her an hour to get from the gate to her apartment, an hour to get ready for bed and another hour in the morning to get ready for work and to get there. Will Nina be able to get her good night’s sleep?
7. Jim is doing a volunteer project in Nairobi, Kenya. His team is waiting for his 18 hour flight from Philadelphia to arrive. However, his flight has been delayed 2 hours. If he left Philadelphia at 6 AM on Wednesday, what time and day can his team expect his flight to arrive now?
8. Kelly is the world’ biggest soccer fan and she has been saving up for a ticket to São Paulo, Brazil for the 2014 FIFA World Cup for two years. She wants to make sure she arrives in time for the USA’s first qualifying match on Tuesday morningat 10 AM but she has to work until 12 PM on Monday. If it takes hera half hour to get from
work to the plane’s gate and 45 minutes to get from the airport to the arena and the flight will last 10 hours, will Kelly make it to the first match?
