= 11

b. x^2-3

= (-4)^2-3

= 16-3

=13

If a=5, b=-4, find the value of:

a. a^2+b^2

=(5)^2+(-4)^2+2×5×-4

=25+(-16)+(-40)

=-31

b.(a-b)^2

=[5-(-4)]^2

=5^2-(-4)^2+2×5×(-4)

= 25-16+(-40)

= -31
