He needs a shoulder to cry. Visit him in person if possible. Being present in such a situation is the greatest favour that you can do to your friend. He might not show his feelings to his family members to avoid provoking their grief as they might already be in a bad state of mind. Being a friend, he might be able to share his pain with you. Allow him to cry, share his memories with his dad or talk what he wants. In case you can't meet him in person, try calling him. Usually people tend to avoid calls for sometime after losing their loved ones.
