Nitrogen molecule is N2 where two nitrogen atoms are triply bonded,in other words presence of triple bond makes the nitrogen bond strong and less reactive.

Nitrogen is not found naturally as an ion. It is found as N2 , bonded to itself with a covalent bond and thus being a symmetrical uncharged molecule it is then unwilling to react with other species because it is quite satisfied with its electron configuration.
The motivation behind any bonding is an electron deficiency or an excessive amount of electrons, this has neither and is thus not inclined to bonding.
