It is stored under kerosene because if it is kept in open air it reacts with air at room temperature resulting in fire .Therefore sodium is stored under kerosene to avoid its reaction with air in sourrounding

Sodium is highly reactive with water. So it is a fact that sodium should not kept near water.Sodium reacts with water to produce sodium hydroxide. It is an exothermic process. So If we keep kerosene it will prevent it from reacting with oxygen and moist air

Sodium is a very reactive metal. It is kept in Kerosene oil to prevent it from coming in contact wit oxygen and moisture. If this happens, sodium reacts with moisture present in air and form Sodium Hydroxide. This is strongly exothermic reaction and lot of heat is generated.
