Answer:  3.5 +  4.5 = 8

                 +          +

                9.5 -   3.5 = 6

               = 13     = 8

Just use Linear Equations for this .

Let the numbers be a,b,c,d

Then :- a + b = 8 (i)

b + c = 8 (ii)

a + d = 13 (iii)

d - c = 6 (iv)

Note that from (i) and (ii) , we can say

a + b = b + c (since both equal 8)

Or , a = c

Substitute a as c in eqn. (iii) and you get d + c= 13 (iii)

                                                                   d - c = 6 (iv)

Note that by adding both equation : you get 2d = 19 (since c and -c cancels out)

Or d = 9.5 ,

Substitute d in a + d = 13

⇒ a + 9.5 = 13

⇒ a = 3.5

Since a = 3.5 , c is also = 3.5

Substitute a in a + b = 8

⇒ 3.5 + b = 8

⇒ b = 4.5
