Given : two electrons are added to each of six atoms in a group.

removing two protons each from a group of six atoms.

To Find : net change in charge

Solution:

Proton

+ve in charge

Electric charge +1 e

electron

-ve in charge

Electric charge -1 e

Neutron

no charge

Electric charge 0 e

net change in charge if two electrons are added to each of six atoms in a group   =  +  (-1 e) * 2 * 6  = - 12e

write an expression that represents removing two protons each from a group of six atoms. = - ( 1 e) * 2 * 6  = - 12e

net change in charge = -12e  in both cases
