The German empire territories were snatched away . The Germans were mocked at because they lost the war . Germans blamed the new Weimar Republic was responsible for this as they signed the Treaty of Versailles . Germans also felt that their self respect has been lost due to this treaty . This treaty has also indirectly rose Nazism . Hence , the Treaty of Versailles sowed the seeds of the Second World War .
