Given

  • Henry law constant of water = 5 bar.

  • Pressure of CO in water = 0.01 bar.

To Find

Its mole fraction in the solution.

Formula

 P = K_h \times X

  • Where ,X is mole fraction of CO in water.

  • While K_h is henry constant.It increases with increase in temperature

Calculations

 P = K_h \times X  \\ \\ \\ =>\: 0.01\:=\:5 \times X \\ \\ \\ => \: X = \dfrac{0.01}{5} \\ \\ \\ => \: X\:=\:0.002

Hence, mole fraction of CO in water is 0.002 .
