Answer:

Herbivores have longer intestines than carnivores to digest grass. These intestines have many small bacteria that processes and breaks down cellulose into glucose, a source of energy that the host herbivore can use.The digestive tract of herbivorous mammals is generally much longer than that of carnivores [1]. The increased length – especially of the small intestine – allows for more time for the cellulose of plant cell walls to be broken down by microorganisms.

The small intestine is longer in herbivore than in carnivore because herbivores eat only grass which is full of cellulose and the digestion of cellulose takes a long time. The function of bile is to assist fat digestion and absorption in the gut.

Herbivores consume producers like plants which contain cellulose in the cell wall of their cells. Digestion of cellulose in the gut takes a longer time and hence, the gut of herbivores is longer than gut of carnivores.
