Answer:
Herbivores have longer small intestine because they eat grass which has cellulose. Cellulose requires more time to be disgested.
Whereas, Carnivores have a shorter small intestine than the herbivores as their food does not contain cellulose.

Answer:
Digestion of cellulose takes a longer time, because the enzymes are produced by the ruminant bacteria that live in the gut of the herbivore. Longer small intestine ensures that the food stays for a longer duration and proper digestion is possible.
