Here is a diagram of a boy standing next to a hotel.
The diagram shows two-centimetre rulers.
The hotel and the boy are drawn to the same scale.
How many times taller is the hotel than the boy?

Answer:

Height of boy = 1 cm

Height of hotel = 8 cm

Dividing (i) equation by (ii):

Boy / Hotel = 1/8

Cross - Multiplying ;

8 Boy = Hotel

Hence , we can say that hotel is 8 times taller than the boy.
