Given :

Half of the tuna sandwiches were on white bread

25% of the ham sandwiches were sold on brown bread

There were 20 more white bread sandwiches sold than brown bread.

To Find :

The two way equation

Solution :

Let The number of tune sandwiches = t

Let The number of ham sandwiches = h

let The number of white sandwiches = w

Let The number of brown sandwiches = b

So,

According to question

Number of white sandwiches sold = 20 + number of brown sandwiches sold

i.e  w = 20 + b              ..............1

half of  the tuna sandwiches were on white bread

i.e   \dfrac{t}{2} = w          ............2

And

25% of the ham sandwiches were sold on brown bread

i,e  25 % of h = b

Or, \dfrac{25}{100}  × h = b

Or,    b = 0.25 h             .........3

From eq 1 , 2 and 3 , we can get

   \dfrac{t}{2}   = 20 + 0.25 h

Or,  \dfrac{t}{2}   = 20 + \dfrac{25}{100}  × h

Or,   \dfrac{t}{2}  = 20 + \dfrac{h}{4}

i.e  \dfrac{t}{2}  - \dfrac{h}{4} = 20

Taking LCM

  \dfrac{2t - h}{4} = 20

i.e  2 t - h = 80

Hence, The equation which complete in two is 2 t - h = 80  Answer
