Solution :-

Given :-

▪️Duration of period for junior section = 40 min

▪️Duration of period for senior section = 1 hrs (60 min )

▪️The time at which they rang together = 9:00

Now as they will ring together next time when there is no interval between the ringing time , mean the time difference should be a factor of both the the given time periods.

So we have to find out the LCM of 40 and 60 min

Prime factorization of 40

 \begin{array}{r|l} 2 & 40 \\ \cline{1-2} 2 & 20 \\ \cline{1-2} 2 & 10 \\ \cline{1-2} 5 & 5 \\ \cline{1-2} & 1 \end{array}

= 2³ × 5

Prime factorization of 60

 \begin{array}{r|l} 2 & 60 \\ \cline{1-2} 2 & 30 \\ \cline{1-2} 5 & 15 \\ \cline{1-2} 3 & 3 \\ \cline{1-2} & 1 \end{array}

= 2² × 3 × 5

So LCM

= 2³ × 3 × 5

= 8 × 3 × 5

= 120

So LCM of 40 min and 60 min

= 120 min

= 2 hrs

So They will ring together next time after 2 hrs

That is

= 9:00 + 2:00

= 11:00

◾60 = 2 * 2 * 3 * 5

Thus, LCM = 2 * 2 * 2 * 3 * 5 = 120.

✨ So, the next bell will ring after 120 minutes = 2 hours.

⚫ Therefore, the next bell will ring 2 hours after 09 : 00, i. e., at 11 : 00.
