1. Synthetic fibres: fibres which are man made and are made from petrochemicals are called synthetic fibres. For example: nylon, polymer, rayon etc. 2. (i. fibre obtained by chemical treatment of wood pulp is called rayon. (ii. fibre which is man made and is made without using any natural raw material (from plant or animal) is called nylon . (iii. Dacron (polyethylene terephalate ) is a very familiar form of polyester . It is used for making bottles , utensils, films , wires etc. (iv. Fibre which is actually not made from natural wool , though it appear to resemble wool is called acrylic. 3.(i. plastic is also a polymer like the synthetic fibre . (ii. All plastic do not have the same arrangement units. (iii. plastic is also available in possible shapes and sizes. 4. (i. plastic which gets deformed easily on heating and can be bent easily are known as thermoplastic. For ex: polythene and PVC . 5. plastics which when moulded once , cannot be softened by heating are known as thermosetting plastics. For ex: bakelite and melamine.
