Here's a question in my text book:
A car travelling at 60km/h overtakes another car travelling at 42km/h. Assuming each car to be 5.0 m long. Find the time taken furing the over take.
I don't know how to do and what to do.

relative speed of car 1 (with speed = 60 kmph) w.r.t car 2 (with speed = 42 kmph) is 18 kmph = 5 m/s. now distance car 1 has to travel to overtake car 2 = 5+5 = 10 m.
hence time taken = distance / speed = 10/5 = 2 sec.
hence time taken = distance / speed = 10/5 = 2 sec.
