• The term of the office of Lok Sabha is 5 years but, it can be dissolved earlier by the President of India on advice of the Prime Minister of India.

Rajya Sabha is a permanent house and cannot be dissolved. However, members of the Rajya Sabha are elected for a period of 6 years and one - third of its members retire every second year.
