Answer:

because valency of hydrogen is one and valency of oxygen is 2 and when we react it then,

H2+O2------>H2O

Answer:

Actually the reaction is not balanced.

H² + O² = H²O

No. of H in the reactant = 2

No. of O in the reactant = 2

No. of H in the product = 2

No. of O in the product = 1

So the no. of O is not same in both the side so the reaction is not balanced.

TO BALANCE -

We will multiply 2 with H²O

Reaction-

H²+ O² = 2H²O NOTE - WE CANNOT MULTIPLY 2 WITH ONLY O WE NEED TO MULTIPLY WITH THE WHOLE COMPOUND.

Now the no. of O in the reactant = no. of O in the product.

But the no. of H is not same

No. of H in the reactant = 2

No. of H in the product = 4

We will multiply 2 with H²

Reaction -

2H² + O² = 2H²O

so, now it is balanced.
