Toothpaste has base which is effecive for teeths. is is specifically made for it.

If you have acidity, there's separate base available for it. we call it antacid.

The acid which is formed while the the process of tooth decay, is weak and can be neutralized by adding weak bases like tooth paste. But when acidity occurs in the digestive tract, the acid formed is diluted Hydrochloric Acid(HCl), which is far more strong than the acid formed while the process of tooth decay. To neutralize this acid, milk of magnesia is used which a strong enough to completely neutralize the acid compared to the weak base like tooth paste.

ruhisinghania47: U had written wring chemical industry formula it is HCL not H2SO4. .
ruhisinghania47: Wrong.
