A Heritage of Trees
'A Heritage of Trees', written by David Horsburgh, emphasizes the importance of trees and how precious they are! The poet personifies trees and says that humans mercilessly attack trees. He further describes that trees are mutilated, lacerated, and crippled by mankind. The wanton damage is inflicted by deforestation and he argues that afforestation should be practised. In this non-rhyming poem, he mentions that if the noble people from the past come and see the state of their life's work (the trees), they will be very disappointed and hurt. The last point is that he says trees are our heritage and we need to preserve them along with nature.
